Caterpillar is eliminating about 300 Peoria-area management and support positions.  Cat spokeswoman Lisa Miller says it’s part of a move to cut 475 positions given current business conditions and consolidations.   The news follows Cat placing hundreds of workers on indefinite layoffs since the beginning of the year.  The company also reported declines in second quarter sales and revenues compared to last year.

Miller says “resources will be provided to assist impacted individuals during this transition.”
