Pekin remembers the service of Tazewell County Deputy

The light poles around the Pekin Courthouse and surrounding area are dressed in Blue ribbons. Police and volunteers are gathering at 6:00p.m. to hang more ribbons.

The more than 200 blue ribbon display is to show appreciation and respect for Tazewell County Deputy Chris Whisenand.

Whisenand died Monday night in a crash while responding to a domestic disturbance call. The 44 year-old deputy was found with his car about a mile northeast of Delavan.

Whisenand had been a Tazewell County Deputy for more than decade.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
