The Pekin Police Department is investigating a body found floating in the Illinois River Wednesday morning.

Chief Seth Ranney says the police and the fire department were called to the Pekin riverfront around 9 a.m. for a report of a body in the river. The fire department recovered a deceased male from the water.

Ranney said the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office and Pekin Police Department’s Investigations Division are conducting a death investigation.
