Peoria Police warn of recent phone scam

The Peoria Police Department is warning area residents of a phone scam. People receiving calls are being told a warrant has been issued for their arrest due to missing jury duty.  The caller claims to be affiliated with local law enforcement.  The person receiving the call is then instructed to purchase a pre-paid credit card or make an electronic money transfers to cancel or lift the warrant.  Callers are further advised to remain on the phone during the transactions to assure that they are in fact following instructions.

Peoria Police say the calls are NOT legitimate and they are NOT associated with the Department.
