CityLink could raise fares amid state budget cuts

CityLink is considering raising bus fares this fall if Governor Bruce Rauner’s proposed funding cuts become a reality. CityLink General Manager Al Stanek says the proposed funding reduction would mean a $2.7 million deficit for the group. He says CityLink could raise prices of its single-fare ride or offer riders an ‘All Day’ bus pass for three-dollars:

“We don’t want to ask them for more finding, but we really don’t have much of a choice.”

Stanek says CityLink would only consider route cuts or tax increases as a last resort to save money.
