The UnityPoint Methodist College is getting a new campus. The former American Furniture Building is being reconstructed with Student Housing built on adjacent land to house both the nursing and health sciences programs.
A variety of community representatives celebrated the quasi-groundbreaking today. Doctor Kim Johnston is the president of the college. She says the move will allow the college to grow from 600 students and add more healthcare disciplines:
“Our goals will be about 900 in five years and then about 15-hundred and we are finishing a portion of the building and then as we go beyond 15-hundred we will finish the remainder of it.”
The construction project is priced at 17-million dollars. The new facility is expected to be complete for fall 2016.
