Construction resumes on UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center after accident

Construction has resumed on the exterior of UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center. The construction project was halted last week when a worker fell about 30 feet from the scaffolding. The East Moline Glass Company employee remains hospitalized.

Methodist Spokesman Blake Long says OSHA has cleared the project to go ahead.

“So we have resumed construction. That project is on schedule to still be finished this year. In fact probably August or later on this summer it will be finished.”

That includes the exterior reconstruction of the hospital. Long says phase two is to construct a new entrance for the hospital. The unfinished tower will accommodate a glass tower for the new entry. The entire project is slated for completion later this year.
