Peoria School District 150 and community partners are aiming to reduce if not eliminate what educators call the summer slide. That’s the concept of school age children losing the nutritional and academic enrichment gained throughout the traditional school year. More than 50 locations throughout the city of Peoria will have some form of nutritional and or academic offering this summer for PSD 150 students.

Compass-Learning is being offered at five district schools and ‘Look It’s My Book’ is providing six free books for summer reading for the participating students. Sodexo is also working with the area’s largest school district to provide more than 20-thousand lunches. Breakfast will also be available for all children 18 and younger. Peoria School District 150 started summer break today.
