18th Congressional District Candidate Darin LaHood kicked off early voting for the 18th District special election by casting his ballot. The Republican also kicked off a social media campaign encouraging people to use #VoteEarlyVoteDarin in posts after they vote.
Early voting started today and runs through July 6. The special election is July 7th. LaHood is running against Donald Rients and Mike Flynn in the Republican Primary. Rob Mellon and Adam Lopez are the Democratic candidates.
The special election is to fill the remainder of Aaron Schock’s term. Schock resigned the 18th District Congressional seat in March amid financial questions some of which are now the point of a consideration for a federal grand jury.
