Pekin launches new tourism website

The city of Pekin has launched a new tourism website.  The city spent about $5,000 on the website funded by the city's hotel and motel tax.

Pekin Economic Development Director Leigh Ann Brown says the city wanted to rebrand and make the website a resource to showcase the city.

It includes Pekin arts and entertainment, dining, outdoor recreation and activities on the Illinois River. There's also a calendar of events on the site that will be updated regularly.

Officials chose the name EnjoyPekin because it reflects the state's tourism campaign, Enjoy Illinois.
