Drive for Tomorrow teaches teens safe driving behaviors

Peoria teen drivers can experience the simulated dangers of driving impaired.

The Illinois Department of Transportation and the State Police hosted the ‘Drive for Tomorrow’ program at the Peoria Civic Center.

I-DOT spokesman Brian Williamson says the program lets teens learn the results of driving impaired before going on the road:

“We’d way rather have them learn about those things here, learn about the mistakes the can make, make those mistakes in a safe environment.  And then when you get on the road, make sure you make all the right decisions.”

The teens participated in texting and driving video simulations, drunk driving vision goggles while driving a golf cart, and truck safety.
