Peoria area sees rise in upper respiratory infections in dogs

An increase in upper respiratory infections in dogs has Peoria County’s Animal Protection Services urging owners to be vigilant.

The greater Peoria-area has seen a substantial increase in Kennel Cough.  Officials are also warning against recent canine flu virus cases in Chicago.

Dogs experiencing persistent cough, discharge from nose or eyes, loss of appetite, vomiting or trouble breathing should be taken to their veterinarian immediately.

Owners should keep dogs exhibiting symptoms away from activities where other dogs can be exposed.
