State and federal officials want to change the tentative dates set for a special congressional election in the 18th district. The Department of Justice is proposing a July 7 primary and a September 10 general election to fill the post vacated by Aaron Schock, who resigned last month. Governor Bruce Rauner originally set the dates for early June and late July. A judge must still approve the proposed dates.
