The Peoria City Council voted to defer action on a proposed 140-unit apartment complex to get more public input. The River Trails Apartment project is proposed on city-owned parkland near the Riverplex by the Illinois River. The city is looking to hold a public input meeting next week on the issue. Supporters say the project is a nice addition to downtown Peoria. Some expressed concern during the public comment period about the proposed site’s location near industrial buildings and use of public park land.
