Peoria County hopes to reopen flood-damaged courtroom by April

Peoria County hopes to re-open one of the courtrooms damaged in a flood by early next month.  Last month a leak from an HVAC system caused damage damaged three courtrooms and the circuit clerk's office. Assistant County Administrator Scott Sorrel says that the county is using contractors to partially restore one of the courtrooms:

“We’ve got to replace carpet, ceiling tile, the lighting and sound systems in the courtrooms were damaged. There was some drywall that was water-damaged and had to be replaced.”

Sorrel says the repair estimate is between $70,000 and $90,000.  He says it's unclear at this point how much of the repairs will be covered by insurance.
