The Peoria Housing Authority Board unanimously approved its overall strategy to provide direction on future redevelopment projects. Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports:
The PHA’s Framework Strategy will also serve as a starting point in the project to replace Taft Homes. The plan details business, transportation and other factors in six so-called ‘areas of opportunity’ in Peoria County. Authority CEO Brenda Coates says the plan does not identify specific sites for development:
“It shares the framework, it shares the guide that we’re going to be using for looking at other areas.”
Coates says the framework will help the PHA talk about future site development and tax credit financing with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The complete document will be posted on the PHA website in the next week.
