Bartonville Police Chief appointed to national review board

Central Illinois will have a voice in choosing public safety officers for a prestigious national award.

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos announced Wednesday Bartonville Police Chief Brian Fengel has been appointed to the Medal of Valor Review Board. The board recommends courageous individuals in public safety for the annual Presidential honor.

Fengel says he’s honored to be chosen for the selection committee.

“Law enforcement, firefighters, corrections, (and) deputies, need to be recognized for the extraordinary work they do every day. They don’t think twice. They put on the uniforms. They run in burning building and they don’t think anything about it.”

Fengel has also served on the Illinois Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Committee.

U.S. Representatives Bustos and Aaron Schock nominated the police chief for the national board.
