Increased traffic patrols over the Thanksgiving holiday

The Illinois Department of Transportation is hoping traffic fatalities remain on pace to be the lowest since 2009. As of Monday, IDOT reported more than 820 people had lost their lives on Illinois roads this year. That’s compared to the state’s last recorded low of 911.

State and local police are taking part in the annual “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns. Motorists should also expect increased enforcement of various traffic laws through roadside safety checks, safety belt enforcement zones and other saturation patrols targeting drunk drivers.
