Peoria residents hold vigil following Ferguson decision

Nearly 30 people held a peaceful vigil in Peoria last night to protest the grand jury decision in Ferguson.  Police officer Darren Wilson will not be indicted in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown.  Peoria resident Marc Smith urged a long-term awareness:

“We have to stand up for that once life and that one instance. Because like Martin Luther King said, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. That can happen to any one of us. And we want people to stick up for us.”

Resident Zack Teague says he’s a spectator to injustice:

“I don’t often feel its sting. But when I see it in our communities and our society, I know that something’s wrong.”
Chama Saint-Louis is with the Peoria Black Chamber of Commerce. She says it's important for people to continue to support each other:

“I really pray and hope that something becomes of this, that this is not just an opportunity to meet and express what it on our hearts but that we continue to fight this fight after today.”

Another prayer vigil is planned for Tuesday at 6pm at Bethel United Methodist Church in Peoria.
