Peoria City officials say new ownership and police involvement are turning around the former Village Green Apartment complex. New York-based Capital Realty re-named the 120-unit community ‘Greenwood Estates’ after taking over last year. Peoria Police Officer Richard Linthicum says management promoted a zero-tolerance policy towards crime:
“There’s more kids outside playing now. We didn’t see that down here in the past.”
Linthicum says Greenwood Estates saw a more than 30-percent decrease in police calls compared to five years ago. New changes also include a gated perimeter, keyed access and on-site maintenance.
