National Weather Service recognizes Tazewell County

Tazewell County is officially a National Weather Service StormReady County. The designation is good for three years.

Tazewell County didn’t complete the application process before the November tornadoes.

Chris Miller is with the National Weather Service in Lincoln. He says Tazewell County’s Emergency Management Agency was well-prepared before and is also learning from the recovery process of the last year. He says Emergency Managers have applied those lessons to official county plans.

The designation requires a county to go through an application process that proves they have plans to help minimize the impact of natural or man made disasters before, during and after such events.
