Caterpillar volunteers plant trees in Washington

30 volunteers from Caterpillar helped plant nearly 60 trees in Washington yards damaged from last year’s tornado. The volunteers are from the company’s Dealer Service Support Division.

Michael Watson is with Cat. He says the trees play a vital role in the rebuilding process for residents, in part because tree planting and landscaping isn’t covered under insurance when rebuilding from a disaster.

Watson says the group also plans to plant more trees next spring and fall when more homes are further in the rebuilding process. Caterpillar along with Honeywell are sending volunteers to build a new community gazebo Friday in Washington’s Harry LaHood Park.
