Peoria hires new communications specialist

The city of Peoria has officially hired a new Communications Specialist. The city has hired Stacy Peterson.

Peoria eliminated the position more than two years ago trying to balance an operational budget deficit. The move also comes as the city is facing an ACLU lawsuit following the investigation into a fake Twitter account of the mayor.

Peterson is coming from the Peoria Public Library where she coordinated programs, projects, musical performances and exhibits. Her role with the city of Peoria includes coordinating efforts to keep residents and businesses informed about critical services, events and news. She will also oversee content on Peoria’s website, manage the city’s social media presence, and develop public information programs.

Peterson’s first day on the job is November 10th.
