National speaker talks 'choices' at Peoria High School

A nationally-known speaker is talking to District 150 high school students this week. Chad Hymas was paralyzed in a farming accident and went on to become a world-class wheelchair athlete.  He says his main message is telling students to make good choices:

“I’ve got people in this audience who are more paralyzed than me. I have pregnant teenagers that I’m going to be with – I’m just being very very blunt. I have people that come from divorced homes, people involved in gangs and violence, I have people that are abused mentally, physically, sexually. I’m talking to all those people.”

A survey of teens at Peoria High School shows some students are more at-risk for having sexual activity and multiple partners compared to the national average. Hymas also encouraged students to form social groups that reject peer pressure and form good habits.
