The National Center for the Prevention of Home Improvement Fraud is coming to Washington, Illinois. The non-profit organization is holding a free home repair fraud prevention clinic to educate homeowners on how to deal with contractors and avoid scams.
The clinic will offer one-on-one counseling to tornado disaster victims on their rebuild process. Some of the topics covered will be how to check out and hire contractors, what should be in the contract, the building permit process, insurance issues, and typical problems that arise in the rebuilding process.
The clinic will be held at the Long Term Recovery Center on Washington Road, Wednesday through through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
