Water street in Peoria will be closed at the intersection of State Street for road work starting Monday August 25th through October.
The work will be done in two stages starting with the Water street side of the intersection, then switching to the other side after work is complete.
State Street will remain open during the reconstruction from Adams to the river. But State Street will be reduced to one lane with flaggers to control traffic.
A detour to the Post office is available through the Water Street parking lot.
Construction work includes sidewalks, lighting, planter boxes and decorative brick in addition to complete resurfacing of State street from Water street to Adams street.
