The unemployment rate fell in every metro area in the state for the fourth month in a row.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security is reporting an unemployment rate of 7.6% in July for the Peoria area. That’s a 2% decline from the same time last year. But it’s a slight increase from June of this year.
The Peoria area lost 28-hundred jobs even though unemployment declined. Losses took place in retail trade and professional-business services. There were job gains in wholesale trade, construction and financial activities.
