East Peoria Police are warning residents to be aware of a potential home repair scam. A group of people from Chicago are soliciting residents for driveway seal coating and tree trimming services.
Often services are not completed or poorly done, and may serve as distractions while other members of the group commit burglaries. This group often targets elderly citizens.
Residents are advised to be extra vigilant in their neighborhoods and warn family and neighbors of suspicious activity. Police says those approached about repair work should contact the East Peoria Police department or the Tazewell County Sheriff's office.
