Caterpillar Foundation investing in Africa

The charitable division of the Caterpillar is continuing efforts to help lift Africa out of poverty.

The Caterpillar Foundation announced it’s investing 11 million dollars for various programs that address the continent’s water and energy needs as well as efforts to empower girls and women.

Five million dollars is being donated to a program that addresses public policy needs and the lack of access to energy. Another five million will fund an extension of a water distribution pipeline, benefiting more than 126-thousand people in Tanzania and Ethiopia. One million dollars will help teach women and girls about the dangers of traditional cookstoves and the benefits of adopting clean cooking solutions.

The Caterpillar Foundation has donated 30 million dollars to African programs since 2010.
