CityLink is considering six sites as part of a feasibility study to build a northside transfer center for its customers.
The transit organization held an open house Tuesday to discuss the various locations up for consideration. They were narrowed down from 15 sites, and evaluated based on several criteria including size of parcel, access conditions, transit system connectivity and anticipated land costs.
The preferred sites include the former Pizza Hut location on North Sterling Avenue, two pieces of property on North University-near the Walmart, two sites on Forrest Hill Avenue and one along West War Memorial Drive.
CityLink is considering building a new facility to better accommodate residents who use the service on the north side of the city. It also gives the bus system the opportunity to grow service in the future.
The next phase of the project includes contacting property owners to confirm the availability of possible sites, identifying a preferred location, meeting with neighborhood representatives and preparing a conceptual design for the facility.
