The Peoria Housing Authority is putting the Greeley Scholar House Project on hold. The historic school is the PHA’s proposed site for eventual public and market-rate apartments that would serve to replace some of the Taft Homes. The Authority says it plans to re-apply for tax credit financing with the state Housing Development Authority in December.
The proposed Greeley School project included offering a Head start school and daycare for the families who live at the site. Neighbors around the proposed site were generally in favor of the project at a community meeting earlier this month.
