Vallas calls for Rauner to release tax returns

The Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor is calling for Republican Bruce Rauner to release his complete tax returns for the past three years.

The GOP gubernatorial candidate has released returns from 2010, 2011 and 2012, but they do not include certain information like assets and investments. Governor Quinn’s running mate, Paul Vallas, was in Peoria Thursday.

“I’ve been involved in campaigns over the years. I’ve certainly been an observer of campaigns over the years, and I’ve never seen a candidate so allergic to substance whether it’s a total lack of a budget plan to his lack of information about his personal finances. We’re constantly left wondering what is he hiding? What are his plans? What is his agenda?”

Vallas says the tax information should be released to determine whether Rauner has any conflicts of interest and whether he made use of tax loopholes.

The Rauner campaign says Vallas and the Governor are bringing up tax returns to avoid talking about the recent federal investigation into an anti-violence program.
