Peoria’s Warehouse District is gaining some momentum.
Rhodell Brewery is moving to and expanding its operation in the Murray Building. The craft Brewery is currently located within the Warehouse District along the riverfront.
The Murray Building is is just down the street and already has new life with artist studios. But that is happening behind a brick wall and not visible to passers-by.
Assistant City Manager Chris Setti says Rhodell’s will add pedestrian interest to the frontage of Water Street:
“Ground level retail is the most important component of a pedestrian friendly environment and so activating the front of the that building, the Water Street side of that building is super important. Because we want people to walk from Kelleher’s and Rizzi’s and the Creek all the way down to the Spirit of Peoria, to the CEFCU Stage.”
Rhodells is planning to move into the Murray Building in February.
The Warehouse District is also set to see the opening of Running Central next week. The locally owned athletic apparel store is moving from its current location in Peoria Heights.
