The city of Pekin has a new City Manager. Joe Wuellner retired Monday after a 30 year career in federal and local government.
Pekin Mayor Laurie Barra says Wuellner is retiring after three years in the city manager’s seat.
"He has done an excellent job for us during that time. He is the most unflappable steady as a rock person I’ve met. He luckily for us had the foresight to fill the position of assistant city manager. And so we’ve had the luxury that he has been able to kind of train someone. So may be the transition will be a little easier than it would have been.”
Darin Girdler is Peking’s new City Manager. He takes that job Tuesday moving from the assistant city manager’s seat.
Joe Wuellner says his first official acts in retirement are golfing with his grandsons and he looks forward to sleeping in.
