The Peoria Metropolitan area is joining the rest of the state in seeing declines in the unemployment rate.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports April’s rate at 7%. That’s a more than one-percent decline from the same time last year and a nearly two-percent decline from March.
The decrease in people filing for unemployment is attributed to gains in wholesale trade, construction and educational health-services. But some industries continue to see job losses. They include manufacturing and professional-business services.
