Two area hospitals are being recognized for attaining and sustaining excellence in the ways they treat certain medical conditions.
The independent accrediting organization called the Joint Commission named OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and UnityPoint Health-Methodist as Top Performers on Key Quality Measures. They are two of nearly 11-hundred hospitals receiving the distinction.
Joint Commission officials say the list of Top Performer organizations represents 33-percent of all of its accredited hospitals reporting accountability measures.
Saint Francis and UnityPoint Health Methodist were both recognized for their achievement using evidence-based clinical processes shown to be the best treatments for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.
