Kohlbuss to resign from Tri-County Regional Planning Commission

The longtime executive director of the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission will resign his post.  A separation agreement with the commission states that Terry Kohlbuss will resign at the end of next March, but shall no longer perform any duties or report to work effective immediately.

The agreement also says that the Commission will continue to pay Kohlbuss his base salary and health benefits for the next five months.   The separation agreement says the commission will also drop its claim that Kohlbuss tried to interfere with the selection process of the next Tri-County Board chairman.  There were also questions in recent months about Kohlbuss’ involvement in past buyouts of Illinois American Water.

Kohlbuss was not present during multiple lengthy Tri-County executive session meetings held in the last six months.  Kohlbuss has been on extended leave for a month.  He says in a statement he is focusing on giving his family support and wishes the best for the Commission and staff.
