Tazewell County Health Department reports another WNV-infected bird

The Tazewell County Health Department is reporting another bird has tested positive for West Nile Virus. The crow was collected from Mackinaw earlier this week. The Health Department previously reported disease-positive birds in Delevan, Pekin, Washington, and Morton.

The disease is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito that has fed on an infected bird. The health department is reminding people they can prevent mosquito bites by using insect repellent, avoiding the outdoors between dusk and dawn, and eliminating standing water.
