Bel-Wood Nursing Home residents transferred

The process of transferring more than 170 Bel-Wood Nursing Home residents has gone smoothly. The residents will now call Heddington Oaks in West Peoria their home. The re-location began at nine Wednesday morning and continued through the afternoon.

71-year old Sharon Roberts was the first person to move into the new home. She says the differences between the new and old facilities are significant.

"The people, of course, are what make a nursing home. It's just a lot nicer. I just can't say enough about what they've done to this, and it makes you feel like you're at home. And each resident has their own separate window. I'm really thrilled. I'm just thrilled that I was able to make this move with them to see what it's like, and I know I've made the right choice for the future."

Families, buses, and ambulances helped transport the residents from Bel-Wood to Heddington Oaks. More than 100 volunteers were also on hand to help with the process.
