CityLink unveils All-America City-themed bus

Peoria is continuing to celebrate its 2013 All-America City status. CityLink Friday unveiled a custom bus wrap honoring the city’s designation.

It features a panoramic image of downtown Peoria on the driver’s side and images of Elite Pulses of Hope Drumline on the curbside. CityLink General Manager Tom Lucek says the city’s Young Professionals Organization that secured the All-America City status helped design the bus.

“We’re hoping that pictures of some of the drum corps on the bus that their neighbors, their families, people will see that and say ‘Oh, I saw your grandson’s picture out there,’ that all year people will be talking about this. It will be in regular daily service even passengers will read on the inside, there’s proclamations and some of the certificates that were presented in Colorado are all inside. We just are really proud that Peoria has this distinction and this honor and we want to keep the hype going.”

Lucek says he came up with the idea after he saw that the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District did the same thing in 1989. He says CityLink shelled out nine-thousand dollars for the custom wrap. It will be displayed for one year.
