Route 24 is now open after Peoria area responders put out a fire at a chemical plant in Mapleton.
Peoria County communications supervisor Sandy Klatt says the fire took place at the Chemtura plant. She says the fire is now under control, and there were no injuries or evacuations of the small town.
The fire prompted the closure of Route 24 as well as a large response from fire departments around the area and a HazMat team.
