It’s officially Summer, and East Peoria held a ribbon cutting to launch its new farmer’s market. The market will be held in the Levee District every Friday from 3 to 6 through September. Rick Swan is the executive director of the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce. He says more people should come to the market because it’s now held in the new downtown’s pedestrian area:
“Last year we did a couple trials...we found the response was very good. And now with all the stores opening and more stores to come here in the next month or so, we feel this is a great area for people to come shop, coming home from work or just being out on a Friday evening,” Swan says.
Swan says the farmer’s market will feature fresh produce, baked goods and local wines.
