UnityPoint - Methodist opens new clinic in Washington

UnityPoint Health-Methodist held held a ribbon cutting for its new 13-thousand-square-foot clinic in Washington Friday. Dr. Gary Knepp is the Chief Medical Officer at UnityPoint Health. He says the $4 million Family Medicine clinic in Washington coordinates with the main hospital thanks to synchronized electronic medical records. This allows the clinic to view patient information and provide better care.

“We’re trying to really unify the care of the patient. To coordinate the care no matter what the need is. And when we say what’s at the point, is the patient themselves,” says Knepp.

“So we’re patient centered, we’re looking forward to working with the community and the people that live here.”

The Washington clinic will offer family and sports medicine physicians, as well as a full-time podiatrist and a nurse practitioner.

Doctor Jill Wirth practices sports medicine at the new clinic. She says the clinic can treat a variety of patient symptoms:

“Sports related injuries, concussions, joint pains, sprains and even broken bones. I’m also really proud of my ability to help folks with weight loss and exercise programs to get them started on leading a more healthy lifestyle,” Wirth says.

The clinic also offers full x-ray and laboratory services, and physical therapy services.
