Outside the Horseshoe - June 24, 2014

The first zoning change request related to the replacement of the Taft homes was on the Peoria City Council's agenda Tuesday, June 24, 2014. The zoning for the historic Greeley School property is in the part of the community known as the North Valley. It's part of the city with well organized neighborhood associations. Some neighborhood association members in the area have questions about the zoning variances required to get the property to meet the needs of the site development currently being proposed.

But it also offers a location that is at least in part accepting of the redevelopment and new replacement housing for some of the 216 units at the Taft Homes PHA site. Neighbors of the other two identifies properties are by and large not welcoming to the PHA's proposal to site mixed market rate and public housing.

Karrie Alms of the North Valley Alliance, Bill Ordaz of Detweiller Marina Neighborhood Association are our guests to for the Outside the Horseshoe to talk about some of their questions.

The Peoria City Council deferred until July 8, 2014 the vote on the Greeley School property zoning change.
