Our guest this week is Ann Schmitt, talking about "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition," now on display at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
The exhibit features historical artifacts, retrieved from the bottom of the ocean. It also includes a recreation of parts of the Titanic's interior. As part of the exhibit, visitors are assigned a "boarding pass" corresponding to an actual passenger on the ship, and can look up whether their alter-ego survived. Schmitt talks about the enduring resonance of the Titanic's story, why it endures in popular culture, and how the current exhibit lends itself to exploration as art, history and science.
"Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" runs through March 12th at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
