Dale King is back in charge of the Creve Coeur Police Department.
King, who retired as police chief in 2022, returned Monday as interim chief following the resignation Friday of Justin Egan, who replaced King. Egan had served as deputy chief since 2020 prior to taking the top position.
Creve Coeur Mayor Fred Lang, who announced King's hiring and Egan's resignation Monday in a statement, said Deputy Chief Dan Nelson and Officer Dustin Ward also resigned Friday.
The Village Board is expected to discuss the future of the village's police department Wednesday at its regular 6 p.m. meeting. The police and fire committee will meet an hour earlier.
Lang did not provide reasons for the police departures in his statement, but he said, "the Village Board and I deemed these changes to be in the best interest of the village and we have every confidence that Chief Dale King will provide strong leadership to move the department forward in a positive direction."
Lang could not be reached Tuesday afternoon for comment.
The moves come less than two months after Caitlynn Girkin was charged with first-degree murder in the March shooting death of Adolfo Cazares. Girkin was a Creve Couer police officer at the time of the incident and has since been fired.
