Construction is about to begin on OSF Medical Group’s new primary care clinic in Brimfield.

Representatives from the Peoria-based health care system and community stakeholders participated in a groundbreaking Wednesday for the new facility at the southeast corner of U.S. Route 150 and Maher Road, just north of the Interstate 74 interchange.

“Getting a new health care clinic for the community of Brimfield is a huge step forward,” said Dr. Robert Bevill, a family medicine physician who has practiced at OSF HealthCare’s current Brimfield clinic for 38 years.

“It’s more than just a new building, however. It’s an investment in the people and the families of Brimfield.”

Bevill said the new clinic will offer numerous benefits for the village and its residents.

“Attracting further young physicians to the area will be much easier,” he said. “It’ll be easier to provide state-of-the art care with a facility like this, and people would just be very comfortable in a facility that OSF has constructed and provides for that care to take place.”

Planning for the new clinic started two years ago, following a land donation from the Kress family. Bevill said Rita Kress also provided some funding toward the construction.

The new facility will replace the current clinic on Knoxville Street, and will feature enhanced services and improved accessibility.

“It will be more spacious and welcoming, with a ground-level entrance, and provide a specific room for skin procedures and other small surgical procedures to be performed,” said Bevill. “There will also be a room dedicated to physical therapy for that service to also be available to our patients.”

Bevill said there isn't a target date yet for opening the new clinic, but construction is expected to last throughout the year.
