A look at anticipated snowfall totals across Central Illinois, through Friday morning.

Greater Peoria is expecting 2-4 inches of snow starting Thursday afternoon.

Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties are included in a winter weather advisory that lasts from 3 p.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.

The Peoria Public Works department says its snow removal crews are resuming around-the-clock operations in preparation for the imminent weather system. Crews are pretreating hills and overpasses ahead of the snowfall to help reduce slick conditions. The teams will remain on 12-hour shifts until further notice.

And the brisk start to winter continues this weekend. The weather service says another clipper system will bring accumulating snow to portions of Central Illinois on Saturday afternoon and evening, followed by bitter cold. The temperature will drop below zero across much of Central Illinois both Saturday night and Sunday night, with resulting wind chill values as cold as 15 to 30 below.
