A 17-year-old boy is dead following a shooting Saturday night at the Lexington Hills Apartments in central Peoria.

According to a Peoria Police Department media release, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 3400 block of West Oakcrest Drive shortly before 11:30 p.m. On arrival, they found the teen unresponsive in an apartment with gunshot wounds to his torso.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity and an official cause of death have not yet been released by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.

A second victim, a 21-year-old man, was found in a nearby apartment with gunshot wounds to his legs. He was taken to the hospital and his condition is considered stable.

Police canvassed the apartment complex looking for anyone with information about the shooting and possible camera coverage related to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone able to provide details that could assist in apprehending potential suspects is asked to contact detective Scott Hulse at (309) 393-8391. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the tip411 hotline, or by calling CrimeStoppers at (309) -673-9000.
