People take part in the "No Kings Day" protest on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Chicago.

Rallies protesting Trump administration policies are planned across the country Saturday, including one in Peoria.

The local “No Kings” demonstration hosted by Peoria 50501 is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m. on the public sidewalks along War Memorial Drive, between Knoxville Avenue and New York Avenue.

Those planning to participate are asked not to impede traffic and keep crosswalks and driveways clear.

The national No Kings organization arranged its first series of protests in June, to counter President Trump’s birthday parade.

Statements on both the national organization’s website and the one promoting the local gathering say the demonstrations are part of a peaceful movement aimed at uniting people in a fight against fascism and dictatorship.

“The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty,” the statements read.

Other communities across Central Illinois where No Kings rallies are scheduled include Bloomington, Princeton, Galesburg, Kewanee, Springfield and Macomb.
